SUMMARY:Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing: Black History Concert
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Black History Month\, the Ritz Chamber Players will honor Dr. Norma Solomon White with the Ovation Lifetime Achievement of Northeast Florida Award in their Lift Every Voice and Sing Black History concert\, held on Wednesday\, Feb. 24\, 2016 at 7 p.m.  \nThe event will be held at the Hicks Auditorium of the Jacksonville Main Library at 303 N. Laura Street\, Jacksonville\, Florida 32202. \nThe concert is free and open to the public.  \nDr. White attended Stanton High School in Jacksonville\, Fla. and went on to attend Julliard School of Music in New York. Her accomplishments include a multitude of “firsts\,” including: \n•	First female member of the famed FAMU “Marching 100” (1951-55)\n•	First female band director in Duval County. Jacksonville\, Fla.\, 1955\n•	First Band Director at Isaiah Blocker Junior High School\n•	First Legacy International President in the 103 year history of Alpha\n•	Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.\, 1998-2002\n•	First International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc. from\nthe State of Florida\n•	Only Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority International President to serve in two centuries\n•	First Instrumental Music Coordinator in the State of Florida\n•	Coordinator of the First HIPPY program in Jacksonville \nThe Ovation Lifetime Achievement of Northeast Florida Award recognizes an individual for artistic vision and historic contribution to the Northeast Florida cultural community. \nMusic:\nJOHNSON Lift E’ry Voice and Sing\nBRAHMS Clarinet Trio\, Op.114\nWorks by: J.
