Prelude Chamber Music Camp/Festival Weeks
June 8, 2015 - June 17, 2015
Beginning to Master String Musicians of All Ages (Kindergarten through 12th grade, college and adults) come together for Summer Camp and Festival to play chamber music in small ensembles under the tutelage of some of the finest professional string musicians in Northeast Florida. Most of the instructors are also members of the Jacksonville Symphony. The 5-10 day camp and festival (depending on the program), runs June 8-17.
The first week, June 8-12th, will offer 3 independent programs for Primary (Beginners and younger ages), Prelude (Intermediate to Advanced) and Intensive (Advanced to Master Class). Students will play in concerts over the weekend. Students in the Intensive Program will continue into the second week, June 15-17, working to further advance their skills and participate in workshops and master classes with the award-winning Vega Quartet. The Vega Quartet and the Intensive Program students will perform in a couple concerts in the evenings on June 16 and 17.
To participate as a musician in the camp and festival, sign up by April 4th and complete placement auditions on April 11th. Auditions are held to hear and organize the musicians and place ensembles, keeping the appropriate levels of playing and challenges in sync with the respective program’s objectives. All are accepted who register and audition. If one cannot afford the tuition for the recommended track/program, financial assistance is made possible by our donors so that everyone has the opportunity to share in one of Jacksonville’s best kept secret’s. Registration forms and financial assistance request forms are both available at PreludeChamberMusic.org.
All concerts are free and open to the public.
